Intellectual Contributions

The college's mission embodies an educational philosophy of continual intellectual and professional growth for its faculty members and students. It promotes learning experiences that develop professionals, academics and managers. To provide our students with exceptional experiences and an exceptional learning environment, faculty members are encouraged to continuously improve their skills and management knowledge through research and interaction with business and other organizations.

• Basic or Discovery Scholarship: All of the MOST-funded research projects are included in this category, which contains general research projects, industry-academic cooperative research projects, and student research projects.
• Applied or Integration/Application Scholarship: This category included research projects authorized by other governmental organizations (such as MOE, the Tourism Bureau of Tainan City Government, etc.) , research projects authorized by corporations, consulting services for corporations, and staff training sessions for corporations.
• Teaching and Learning Scholarship: This category mainly includes supervised postgraduate research - Masters' these and Ph.D. disseratations.

The quality of intellectual contributions is evidenced by publication in peer-reviewed journals, awards, service on journal editiorial boards and worldwide academic rankings. With respect to international rankings Statistics and Operations Research has been ranked among #201-250 in the QS World Subject Rankings from 2016 to 2021. The ACCT Department was ranked #423 from 2016 to 2020 in the UTD Top 100 World Rankings of Business Scholls Based on Research Contribution.

Because of the outstanding intellectual contributions, the college's faculty members are often invited and authorized by governmental agencies and corporations to carry out research projects, consulting services and staff training sessions. Furthermore, faculty members have multiple impacts:

1. Some faculty members' research findings are organized and used in their lecture materials for both undergraduate and postgraduate-level courses, such as strategic management.
2. The findings of most faculty research projects are either useful to policy-makers or can improve the development of public infrastructure. For example, the findings of Prof. Cheng-Te, Li's research "Artificial Intelligence for Customs Fruad Detection," which won the "2020 Future Technology Award" from the Ministry of Science and Technology, was used in the customs system of Migeria and Malawi.
3. Somce studies can improve policy planning. For example, Prof. Yung-Hsiang, Cheng's study "Exploring the User's Intention to Adopt Mass, Pricing Strategies and Policices Implementation" could improve the development of urban public transport.
4. Some faculty members are invited as editors for both domestic and international journals. For example, in 2019, Prof. Hua-Wei, Huang of the ACC Department was invited by the Asia-Pacific Journal of Economics and Managerial Auditing Journal as an Associate Editor. In 2021, Prof. Hsin-Hsin, Chang of the BA Department was invited by Electronic Commerce Research and Applications as an Associate Editor.
